About Us

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Balassan Counseling and Medical center opened in 2020 after the explosion at the Beirut port killed hundreds and left thousands wounded in our city and countless more impacted psychologically through trauma.   It has continued to grow as the economic crisis in Lebanon combined with the continued Syrian refugee crisis and now with the war on its southern border has left people more and more desperate for medical care that is unattainable. Lebanon continues to struggle to provide needed services to its citizens (education/electricity/etc) and remains in economic collapse.  A recent UN-sponsored “World Happiness” pole ranked Lebanese people as the second unhappiest people in the world in 2024.  It is in this background that we work to serve our community and offer affordable and quality medical care with compassion and dignity.  We have increased our partnerships to include a faith-based NGO that advocates for migrant workers. We provide low cost consultations to our 8 providers, cover 20% of medications and lab fees and basic x-rays/ultrasounds, and this past year helped cover 16 different critical surgical procedures through our special projects fund and see an average of over 500 patients per month. We could not do this without the partnership of our generous donors and we are grateful for the support of many people, organizations, and churches around the world.
